This film  is incredible, so well acted and so well thought out. The power struggle between Josephine and Timothy was a work of art. Timothy lost his power over her when she kissed him willingly at the wedding party. After that point she became a willing participant in their relationship. His power was completely disabled when she was on the Rock bending backwards and challenging him to stop her with his mind. at that point she became dominant and held the power over him. It is a twisted love story but it's a love story. In the end he is honorable by taking the blame and she's honorable because she valued him and the child that she had by him. The way it started the journey in between and the way it ended is one of the most fascinating movies I've seen.

This is an "Art Movie' in the finest tradition of European cinema. Never boring and almost mesmerizing in it's own right. The acting and cinematography were first class and the music score is among the best I've heard. Thanks for posting this piece of art that will go unnoticed by the general public.

In 1865, Timothee, a wanderer, arrives in a village in southern France pretending he is deaf and mute. There, he is struck by the beauty of a young woman, Josephine, and asks for hospitality at the house of Dr Hughes, her father. At dinner, he makes strange tricks inducing weird reactions in Josephine. The next day, he comes back when she is alone and makes her fall in a state of hypnotic lethargy before taking advantage of her. Overwhelmed by his powerful hypnotic gift, she follows him even though she seems to be disgusted and afraid of him. He takes her deep into the woods and continues to abuse her until he is arrested and tried. But how did Josephine accept to follow him?

Wow, that was a great movie.  Been on my mind all day.  "Mother of man is not dead".  Humans, at this point, are a domesticated organism, but the animal is ancient and powerful, smother it and you smother your own soul.  Piss on civilizations, its legions of slaves, its phony hierarchies.  Once again, Wow, most interesting movie I have seen in some time.?
