因空袭新不列颠岛的被俘盟军英名录
——太平洋战争中因空袭轰炸新不列颠岛日军而被俘的盟军战俘之命运

 
在日军于1942年1月底攻占新几内亚的新不列颠岛之后,原澳军亚包守备部队(云雀支队)的官兵在被俘后不到半年,其军官被运往日本,监禁起来,所幸他们这些人战后都获救,顺利返回澳洲【详见:作为战俘于战后幸存之澳军“云雀支队”军官】;而士兵则被送往中国的海南岛,拟让他们在那里做苦工,但因日军运输舰在运送澳兵之航行途中,于1942年7月1日凌晨被一直寻机复仇的美军潜艇击沉,全部澳兵以及押送他们的日军卫队葬身于吕宋海【详见:战时与日军运输舰同沉洋底的澳军“云雀支队”大兵】。因此,日军此后在亚包关押的盟军战俘,基本上就没有了被俘之成建制的澳军官兵,而主要的是该年年底从新加坡转运过来的几十名英军炮团官兵【详见:南太平洋孤岛:盟军战俘阴魂不散】、数千属于英军的印度兵、部分荷属东印度(印度尼西亚)的印尼兵【详见:胜利的喜悦——《南太平洋祭》(28)】、以及从中国运来的1500多名被俘华军官兵【详见:到亚包的中国战俘劳工人数——《南太平洋祭》(7)】。日本投降后,上述这些盟军战俘的幸存者,于1945年9月都被澳军解救出来。
 
实际上,在日本占领下的亚包,还曾关押过超过150名的其他盟军战俘(包括几名被俘的盟国平民)。这些盟军官兵是在1942年日军占领新不列颠岛后至日本投降前,因对亚包和日军在新不列颠岛的其它军事要地进行轰炸和空袭等行动的过程中,因飞机被击落或机械故障被迫降落于该岛等原因,而被日军俘虏。
 
上述被俘的盟军官兵,主要来自美国陆军航空队(USAAF)、美国海军陆战队(USMC)、美国海军(USN)、澳大利亚帝国陆军(AIF) 、皇家澳大利亚炮兵(RAA)、皇家澳大利亚空军(RAAF)、皇家新西兰空军(RNZAF)。他们囊括了当时盟军西南太平洋战区的海、陆、空三军兵种,军阶由列兵到上校不等。
 
这些在空袭和轰炸新不列颠岛日军过程中被俘之盟军战俘,大半在被俘后被日军杀死,其他部分则多因伤重死亡或病殁,或者失踪,只有不到30人,因最终被送到日本关押而在战后获得解救。
 
下面是在1942年至1945年间因执行空袭或轰炸新不列颠岛任务而在该地区被日军俘虏的盟军战俘人员名单。每个名单的排列顺序依次为:军衔、姓名(少数人只有姓,个别人未知姓名)、所属国家之兵种;破折号之后则为最终去向(结果)及日期(如果能够确认的话)。
